This class will explore of a collection of vignettes from St. Louis history told in the context of the larger story of American history. Local connections will be made to the French and Indian War, the American Revolution and the Women’s Suffrage Movement.

Scholar and activist W.E.B. Du Bois was the first African American to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He co-founded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1909.
